File:0.0.3 Development.png

I'm proud to announce development on the T-Games Sapphire web browser has resumed and 0.0.3 will be released before September! Maybe even 0.0.4 before this year's end, but I can't tell for sure.

First off, I'm PROUD to announce the upcoming functionality to this new update.

Additions

  • Settings now has 2 new search options, Google and YouTube! Previously un-added because Bill couldn't find out the search URL's for Google. Bill, it's http://www.google.com/search?q=, like Bing.
  • Settings now has a Default button that resets the settings to the original values.
  • About dialog now has its own changelog.
  • The browser now has an ICON!

Changes

  • About dialog now looks different, mainly because after I screwed something up adding both a changelog and About dialog, I fixed it by starting from a preset form.
  • Nearly all the buttons and visual content have been renamed in the code (For example, 'Button1' became 'GoButton') for easier development.
  • Unlocalized the search options. No longer will Yahoo search in the United Kingdom once selected.
  • Hey, look guys! Enter can be used for the search text box too!
    • Even better! The text you entered in will disappear if you unselect the search box!

Fixes

  • The URL in the address bar now updates the browser's current URL visited. Upon getting the project solution from Bill, this was the first thing I had to add. The code to do it was:
Private Sub WebBrowser1_Navigated(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowserNavigatedEventArgs) Handles WebBrowser1.Navigated
TextBox1.Text = WebBrowser1.Url.AbsoluteUri
End Sub
  • Ok, THAT and the ability to resize the window has been removed because I still need to get some code for the address box to resize itself.

Removals

  • The only thing I could think of in terms of what I got rid of was pointless code that did nothing, like empty Sub commands that were left in by Bill (most likely), but had nothing filled in them. For example:
Private Sub (something happens)(Look in resources) Handles (User action)
(There is nothing here.)
End Sub

Other Notes

This is debugging in a nutshell:

99 little bugs in the code,

99 little bugs in the code,

Take one down, patch it around,

117 little bugs in the code.

What sucks about Visual Basic is how it doesn't let you use Ribbon. For those who don't know, Ribbon is the interface you see in Microsoft Office 2007 and later, and Windows 8's File Explorer now has it too.
